Do capsule houses have bathrooms?

Table of Contents

Many people think capsule houses can’t have a real bathroom just because of their size, right? But that’s not true.

Capsule houses do have bathrooms. We build them to include every basic bathroom feature like flush toilet, a shower, a sink, ventilation and even a water heater. The bathrooms are compact but they are fully functional and prefabricated in our factory. Also, you can personalize the finishes (flooring, tile, walls and curtains) from many available choices.

Read on, you will know what Glamni offers in bathroom features, layouts or custom finishes, all in simple terms.

Standard bathroom features

We make sure each of our capsule’s bathrooms has the essentials. Basically, you’ll find all of the standard fixtures a regular house bathroom has. For example:

  1. Flush toilet:

We mostly install a modern dual-flush (wall-hung) toilet for efficiency and comfort.

  1. Shower enclosure:

We include a shower stall with a mixer tap. The shower is usually about 900×900 mm (roughly 3×3 ft); small but roomy enough for most adults.

  1. Basin and vanity with mirror:

We fit a sink basin into a vanity cabinet and a mirror above it. This lets you wash up and shave or do grooming just easily.

  1. Water heater:

We provide an electric water heater (either tank or instant type) so you get hot water for the shower and sink.

  1. Ventilation:

We include an exhaust fan or an opening window for airflow. As proper vents keep the bathroom fresh.

Every capsule’s bathroom is fully plumbed: all the pipes for water supply and waste are installed at our factory. We deliver the bathroom as a ready-made unit. You just hook it up to the site’s water and sewage lines (much like a plug-and-play system). In short, our capsule home bathrooms work like “a normal bathroom”, just on a smaller scale but they come complete and ready to use.

Bathroom sizes and layouts

Capsule house bathrooms are very compact but…  we plan them to use space smartly. In many models, the bathroom footprint is only about 2 to 3 square meters. To give you a sense of scale, the interior might be roughly 1.2–1.5 m wide by 2.0–2.2 m long (about 4–5 ft by 7 ft). This fits a shower, toilet and sink side by side or along one wall.

Because the room is so tight, we pay special attention to the door and clearance. A swinging door can eat up space inside, so we mostly use space-saving alternatives. For example: a sliding or pocket door is great in a small bathroom. It doesn’t swing in and block the sink or shower. If we use a hinge door, we make sure it opens outwards so it doesn’t hit fixtures. Also, you can plan the door swing ahead of time.

➜ We can also build an accessible bathroom if you need one. That means a wider doorway and a bit more clear floor area for a wheelchair. In fact, accessibility standards require a 900 mm-wide door and roughly 1.5 × 2.2 m clear floor space. We can meet those by making the door larger and leaving wall space for grab bars. Otherwise, a standard layout will be smaller (and fit within a typical 1.2–1.5 × 2.2 m area).

Bathroom options and finishes

We give you lots of choices to personalize your bathroom’s look. Glamni offers dozens of finish options so it matches with your vibes. Like:

Curtain color: You can pick from 19 curtain colors (code 01 through 19).

SPC floor options: You can also choose an SPC (stone-plastic composite) floor pattern out of 60 plus different designs.

Bathroom tile sets and wall panels/textures: For the walls and floor of the bathroom, we have 25 tile sets (each set includes matching wall and floor tiles) and 18 wall panel textures to choose from.

All these options let you go from sleek modern to rustic chic or anything that you want  in between. The last words, our capsule bathrooms come built but you choose the paint, tile and floor finishes before it’s made. This way the final look feels custom to your project.

Capsule house bathroom FAQs

Are bathrooms pre-installed and plumbed at the factory?

Yes. We assemble the entire bathroom at our factory. That means all the walls, plumbing and fixtures (toilet, shower, sink, etc) are built into a single module. We test it before shipping. When it arrives on site, you simply connect it to the water supply and sewer.

How big is the bathroom?

This varies by model but it’s mostly small. Most are only a few square meters. They ends up around 1.2–1.5 m wide and 2.0–2.2 m long, just like i mentioned earlier. The bathroom is just big enough for the shower stall, toilet, and sink. For example: in a 30–40 m² capsule house, we might allocate around 3–4 m² to the bathroom. We use clever layouts so nothing feels cramped.

Can it connect to city sewer or a septic system?

Absolutely. Our capsule houses include standard waste plumbing to hook up to sewage or septic. The base of the capsule house has an outlet you can tie into your local sewer line or septic tank. You just treat it like any other house: connect the drain pipe to the municipal sewer or your septic drain field.

Is hot water included?

Yes. Each of our capsule’s bathrooms has its own water heater installed. Usually this is a small electric tank or an instantaneous (tankless) unit. Of course, you will need to supply power (or gas if chosen) for the heater but the unit itself is included.

Can I choose the tile, wall and floor finishes?

Yes, you can. When you order, we let you pick the finishes for the bathroom (within our available selections). For example, the standard setup might be marble or ceramic tile flooring but you could select a different color or pattern. We have dozens of tile sets to match any theme. We also let you pick wall panels or wallpaper textures and even curtain styles if you add a shower curtain. Thus, most surfaces in the bathroom are customizable from the options list.

Conclusion

In fact, almost all capsule houses come with bathrooms that are already built-in at the factory. That means when your house arrives, the bathroom is ready to use. You just hook it up to water and sewage.

We at Glamni specially design capsule houses that include full living amenities (kitchen, bathroom) even in very small floor plans. For example: our compact 250 square-foot unit, you can still fit a kitchen, a bathroom, plus living and sleeping areas.
